Privacy Policy

    Last updated: April 7, 2026

    This Privacy Policy explains how Routely ("Routely," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Routely mobile app, related share/import features, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

    Scope

    This Privacy Policy applies to:

    • the Routely mobile application;
    • Routely share/import flows, including links or text you choose to send to Routely from another app;
    • Routely backend APIs and trip-planning services.

    What We Collect

    We collect information in the following categories:

    1. Account and profile information

    When you create or use a Routely account, we may collect:

    • your name;
    • your email address;
    • your authentication provider user ID;
    • your profile photo; and
    • your profile headline or bio, if you add one.

    You may sign in with email/password, Google, or Apple. If you use Google or Apple sign-in, we may receive basic profile information from those providers through Firebase Authentication.

    2. Travel content and collaboration data

    When you use the app, we may collect and store:

    • trips you create or join;
    • trip names, descriptions, destinations, dates, pace, and traveler counts;
    • saved places and place selections;
    • itinerary items, notes, votes, and trip activity;
    • trip invite codes and invite links; and
    • public/private trip settings that you choose.

    If you collaborate on a trip, certain profile and trip information may be visible to other members of that trip.

    3. Imported links, text, and extracted travel content

    If you use Routely's import features, we may collect:

    • links you paste into the app or share to Routely from another app;
    • text you submit for analysis;
    • source titles, descriptions, thumbnails, and metadata;
    • extracted or generated place candidates;
    • subtitles, transcripts, or other structured source content derived from imported media; and
    • source references associated with saved places or generated itineraries.

    We store this information so we can process imports, save places, and generate or improve itineraries.

    4. Subscription and billing-related information

    If you use paid features, we may collect or receive:

    • your subscription status;
    • your app user ID;
    • product or entitlement identifiers;
    • purchase, renewal, expiration, or restore status; and
    • plan tier information.

    Payments are processed by Apple, Google, and their payment systems. Routely does not receive or store your full payment card number.

    5. App, device, usage, and diagnostics information

    We and our service providers may collect information such as:

    • app events and feature usage;
    • crash reports and diagnostic logs;
    • performance data;
    • app version, device model, operating system, and language;
    • approximate device or app instance identifiers made available by our analytics and infrastructure providers; and
    • server-side logs needed to operate and secure the Services.

    6. Information stored locally on your device

    Routely may store limited local preferences and temporary state on your device, such as:

    • onboarding state;
    • preferred maps app;
    • pending shared links awaiting import; and
    • other app settings needed for functionality.

    7. Photos and permissions

    If you choose to upload a profile photo, Routely may request access to your photo library or system photo picker so you can select an image.

    Routely does not currently request or collect your precise device location through operating system location permissions. Map and place features are based on destinations, search terms, place selections, and coordinates associated with travel content, not live device tracking.

    8. Push notifications

    If you enable push notifications, we collect and store a device token through Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send you trip-related notifications, such as when a collaborator adds a place to a shared trip.

    You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings.

    Information We Receive From Third Parties

    We may receive information from third parties, including:

    • Firebase Authentication, Google Sign-In, and Sign in with Apple for account authentication and basic profile information;
    • RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for subscription status and billing events;
    • Google Maps, Google Places, Apple Maps, Apple local search, and routing providers for map, search, place, and route information;
    • Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notification delivery; and
    • AI, crawling, and extraction providers used to analyze imported travel content and generate itinerary suggestions.

    How We Use Information

    We use information to:

    • create and manage your account;
    • authenticate users and keep accounts secure;
    • provide trip planning, saved places, imports, maps, search, and collaboration features;
    • generate and improve AI-assisted place extraction and itinerary planning;
    • send push notifications about trip activity when enabled;

    • troubleshoot bugs, monitor app performance, and improve the product;
    • prevent misuse, fraud, and abuse;
    • comply with legal obligations; and
    • communicate with you about support issues, billing issues, or important service changes.

    AI-Assisted Features

    Routely includes AI-assisted import and trip-planning features. When you use those features, imported content and relevant trip context may be processed by AI or supporting extraction providers to:

    • analyze travel links or travel text;
    • identify places mentioned in imported content; and
    • draft itinerary summaries or extra suggestions.

    We do not use this information for third-party advertising.

    When We Share Information

    We may share information in the following situations:

    1. With service providers

    We use third-party providers to operate the Services. Depending on the feature you use, this may include providers such as:

    • Apple App Store and Google Play for in-app purchase processing;
    • AI/model providers made available through OpenRouter-compatible services;
    • search, crawling, extraction, storage, hosting, and infrastructure providers used to process imported content and run the app.

    These providers may process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies.

    If you choose to make a trip public, information from that trip may be visible to other users of the Services.

    If you share an invite code or invite link, people with that code or link may be able to see limited invite preview information, such as trip name, destination, inviter name, and trip counts.

    3. For legal or business reasons

    We may disclose information:

    • to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
    • to protect the rights, safety, property, users, or integrity of Routely;
    • in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business.

    What We Do Not Do

    Routely does not:

    • sell your personal information;
    • use your information for third-party advertising inside the app; or
    • request precise background location access.

    Data Retention

    We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to operate the Services, maintain your account, provide support, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.

    In general:

    • account and profile information is kept while your account remains active;
    • trip, saved-place, import, and collaboration data is kept until it is deleted, your account is deleted, or it is no longer needed for legitimate business or legal purposes;
    • diagnostics, analytics, and subscription records may be retained for operational, security, financial, and compliance purposes; and
    • temporary shared-link state may be kept until it is imported, dismissed, or cleared.

    Deletion Requests

    You can request deletion of your account directly in the app through Profile > Delete Account, or by contacting us at contact@routely.travel.

    When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify account-associated data from our active systems, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, backup, or similar retention requirements. This generally includes your profile information, saved places, import history, trips you created, and your membership or activity in shared trips.

    Some operational, diagnostics, subscription, security, and accounting records may be retained for legitimate business or legal purposes, including records that have been de-identified or are no longer directly linked to your account.

    Security

    We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    International Data Transfers

    Routely and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data protection laws than your home country.
